Nestled at the edge of a strip mall off of Sepulveda and Ventura is Blue Dog Beer Tavern. Blue Dog Beer Tavern is an intimate sports bar with a diverse selection of beers and ciders all which rotate regularly. Their servers are, at least in my experience, educated on all the beverages on their menu and can steer you to new flavors that would suit your tastes -- this isn't a place where you'd order a MGD 64.

On this visit I had myself a Julian Hard Cider: Cherry Bomb (6.99% abv.), which has a strong tart cherry flavor (recommended).

In addition to their pleasingly extensive collection of brews, Blue Dog serves wonderfully sumptuous burgers. Each patty is hand formed and cooked medium-well, never dry or burnt.

The Double Chi-Chi [$16.00]

This is the perfect coma inducing breakfast between two buns for any (and I do mean ANY), time of the day.

The Double Chi-Chi is a towering monster of a burger. Two sunny side-up eggs; two strips of crispy applewood smoked bacon; two hash-brown wafers; two 1/3 lb. hand formed beef patties; Two slices of cheddar cheese melted on each patty; caramelized onions, and to top it all off, literally, maple syrup.

The entire structure is meant to drip, crumble, and fall apart -- not recommended to order on a first date unless the two of you like it dirty.

Regardless of how messy this burger is, it's worth the stains and stickiness. Each bite is a combination of the smoky crunchiness of the bacon; crispiness of the hash-brown wafers; warm fattiness of the fried eggs dripping with its holy yolk-goodness; sweetness of the caramelized onions; two immensely juicy medium-rare patties topped with cheddar cheese crumbling and melting at every-bite; all these ingredients are perversely brought together by maple syrup.

After having consumed this behemoth I felt drunk, not as a result from the ciders and beers I had imbibed, but from the burger itself. My only complaint is that Blue Dog doesn't offer beds to accomodate those who are overcome by the itis.

Blue Dog Beer Tavern is must for anyone who enjoys a good burger and a tasty beverage.

**Fun Fact: if you send Blue Dog a picture of your dog they will happily put it up on their wall. Upon their**
