Little Star

400 Valencia Street
San Francisco , CA 94103
(415) 551-7827
$$(20.00 - 30.00)

On my trip to San Francisco to celebrate my friend Andrew's birthday we did quite a great deal of eating. Pizza was never on my list of things to eat, I have no idea why, pizza should always be on everyone's list of things to eat... I mean, unless you're Hitler. Anyway, Little Star is one of the fine eateries San Francisco has to offer.

Little Star [$24.00 Large]
The Little Star is a deep dish, heavy on the sauce, topped with mushrooms, garlic, onions, and a ricotta feta spinach blend. The sauce is sweet and slightly acidic. Little Star bakes their pies with corn meal in the crusts imparting a bold flavor and a grainy texture. The Little Star is very thick and topped with a great amount of sauce and toppings making it very filling. It's great but not my favorite.

Special Off-Menu Thin Crust [$22.00]
The thin crust. I am partial to thin crusted lightly topped pies, I feel you can appreciate more rather than being inundated with too many flavors, which isn't always a bad thing -- maybe that's just me. Topped by sundried tomatoes, sweet corn, and very light on the sauce. Just like the Little Star, corn meal is baked directly into the crust giving it a distint taste and slight grainy texture. The oils of the sundried tomatoes and corn combine perfectly and provide a sweetness to the pizza -- this was my favorite of the two.

Little Star is a snazzy little joint. Very intimate and comfortable setting perfect for a night with your friends, your significant other(s), or even a night alone; just don't bring someone here with the intention of breaking up with them... don't ruin it for the rest of us.
